ABOUT REBECCA

Hi there,

It’s so lovely to connect with you.

I’m Rebecca Black. I’m a passionate & joy-filled Clinical Psychologist who is deeply dedicated to helping psychologists and other health professionals shift out of their stress and struggle and into a nourishing and flourishing lifewhatever that means for you.

Clinically speaking, I predominantly practice from a Schema Therapy framework, incorporating other clinical modalities throughout, such as CBT, ACT, Compassion Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapies, Positive Psychology and Somatic Therapy.

What that really means is that I like to work with you to recognise, understand, and overcome the deep-seeded internal patterns and nervous system dysregulation that are getting in the way of you living the life you desire. Whether you’re wanting to move away from overwhelm, exhaustion, and burnout, navigate tricky relationship dynamics, feel more confident in your work, quiet that inner critic, stop people-pleasing and start setting boundaries, or shift anything else that gets in the way of your more balanced and blissful way of living – we take a wholistic and compassionate view of your life experiences and neurotype, and work together to make changes on a truly embodied level. And we do this whilst also acknowledging the impact of external systems that surround us – because context is always deeply important.

I also bring with me over a decade of knowledge and lived experienced in the area of healing from stress-related conditions, having not only overcome experiences of burnout in my career, but having also undertaken immense, multidisciplinary personal work in order to recover from years of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. So, when I say I understand the difficulties and challenges of overcoming all of the deep-seeded patterns and nervous system dysregulation we often face as health professionals, I really, deeply mean it - I am here with you on this journey.

And, as a psychologist who believes ongoing personal growth should be a part of our general requirements – because we’ve all got stuff – I really want you to know there is absolutely no judgement that you’re a psychologist or health professional and you’re here for therapy. And I am certainly not here to judge your clinical practice either! I’m just here to support you, celebrate you and guide you, with oodles of care and compassion, so that you can nourish, heal and grow into the authentic life you truly desire.

If you’d like to work together, please email us at admin@nhgpsychology.com.au so we can start the journey with you.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering about the more formal bits (I know they can be a bit boring!): I’m registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and am a member of the Australia Association of Psychologists Inc. Many moons ago, I completed my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Adelaide and was awarded the Australian Psychological Society Prize which recognizes academic excellence in psychology (yep, I was that super academic student! And yes, it led to burnout!). I engage in as much on-going professional development as I possibly can – from more formal webinars and workshops to podcasts and audiobooks over breakfast – I just love soaking in all the incredible wisdom that is available to us! And, while I’ve practiced in a variety of settings, I’ve settled into having my own solo private practice in this phase of life, as it allows me to create the sustainable life that I truly love.

Oh, and speaking of sustainability, I also run a second business, Sustainable Therapists, in which I provide both individual and group coaching (not psychological therapy) to psychologists and health professionals wishing to create a sustainable career and life (I wasn’t kidding when I said it was a serious passion of mine!). If you believe coaching is a better fit for you, you can find us here.
